Use the Latest Software Version

By using the latest software version, you can get access to all of the latest features and improvements that are available. You can also take advantage of any performance enhancements that have been implemented in the new version. To check if you have the latest software version installed on your device, go to your device’s settings and select “Check for Updates”. If an update is available, install it as soon as possible.

Power Cycle Your Device

A power cycle helps reset your device and ensures its optimal performance. To power cycle, your device, disconnect its power source for at least 10 seconds before reconnecting it back to a power source.

Clear Cache & Refresh Streaming Channels

Your streaming channels may contain outdated information which can affect streaming speed and quality. To address this issue, clear your cache regularly (at least once a week) and refresh your streaming channels by removing them from the home screen and re-adding them again. This will reload their data with updated information.

Network Connection

Ensure that your Roku device is connected to a stable internet connection. You can do this by going to ‘Settings’ > ‘Network’ and checking what network connection your device is using (e.g., Wired or Wi-Fi). Make sure that you switch to a more reliable connection if necessary to optimize streaming performance.

Disconnect Unused Devices From the Network

If there are other devices on the same network as your Roku, disconnect those which aren’t being used to reduce congestion on the network and improve overall performance including video quality and change rates between shows/movies when switching titles or stepping back/forward in time within a title.
